Celebrities remember the September 11, 2001, memory-sharing and comforting attacks on social media.
It was 20 years ago that 19 al-Qaeda hijackers hijacked four commercial aircraft in a parcel organized by Osama bin Laden.
Many people, including President Joe Biden, have gathered to honor the dead Saturday. The ceremony was held outside the Pentagon in New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. This is where the plane crashed during the attack.
The Duke of Sussex and the Duchess paid tribute to those who died in the attack on Archiwell’s website. The website page has been redesigned with a list of about 3,000 victims of the attack under the word “In Memoriam” on a black background.
Queen Elizabeth II also wrote a statement offering “thoughts and prayers” to Biden.
“My visit to the World Trade Center site in 2010 is firmly held in my memory,” she wrote in a statement. “We commend those who have lost their lives from many nations, beliefs and backgrounds, as well as the resilience and determination of the communities they have joined together to rebuild.”
Other celebrities like Kate Hudson used social media to compliment Saturday. Hudson included a photo of the light lit from Ground Zero, along with a heartfelt caption.
“It’s hard to believe that this catastrophic event has passed so long in our history. Being in the city now brings back so many memories,” Hudson wrote. “Everyone remembers where they were. When they got a call or saw it in the news. Our people who lived in New York saw another city. Still A city in mourning together. ”

Nearly 3,000 lives were lost in the attack, and stars such as Reese Witherspoon, Wale, and Mariah Carey used social media to commemorate the tragic day.
Witherspoon Tweet: “My prayers are directed to all families who lost their loved ones on this day 20 years ago. We #neverforget. Forever in our hearts.”
Rapper Wale tweeted on Saturday when he was on the plane and still feels the meaning of September 11th, “pain and trauma.”
“I’m flying to Washington, DC. Today, the airport and this plane still have a lot of pain and trauma, many years later … we #neverforget.” He wrote.
Carrie explained that she was feeling “shock and pain” 20 years ago.
“The vivid image of the skyline that I loved and grew up suddenly changed forever.” She wrote. “Several innocent people were lost in an instant and left forever, but I’m still surprised that they will never be forgotten.”
“Respect” star Jennifer Hudson “It’s been 20 years and I’ll never forget. Pray with me for the loved ones of all the people we lost.”
Former “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Sarah Ramirez I tweeted that this morning’s meditation helped calm her “uneasy” feelings about Mark today.
“Today I woke up with all sorts of anxiety. It may take time and true patience to feel what our bodies are telling us.” Sara Ramirez tweeted. “Meditation has helped. We send warmth and kindness to those who accept acceptance. # September11.”
