Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams claimed it could be difficult to see evidence of rifts develop between royals. During an interview with Express.co.uk, Mr Fitzwilliams said this rarely manifested itself in public as the royals would always do their duty. However, he noted that there had been evidence of difficulties between Prince Harry and Prince William in recent years.
Despite this, he claimed the two brothers would at least behave friendly and brotherly towards one another if not having already repaired their relationship by the time of their mother’s statue unveiling in July 2021.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Firstly, time heals things and we know on the occasion of a birthday like Princess Diana’s, where she would have been 60, they will be unveiling a statue to her in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
“It is on that occasion both Prince William and Harry will appear in public.
“I am sure they will appear very warm and friendly towards each other.”
Mr Fitzwilliams also noted the difficulty in gauging the current status of the brothers’ relationship.
He added, once theories and speculation begin people begin to look for the signs of the strained relationship.
He continued: “One of the problems, if you are in the public eye, when there are reports and rumours that there are difficulties is that when you appear publicly people expect it to show.
“It practically never does but on the occasion of the Commonwealth Day, before Harry and Meghan ceased being senior working royals, the way that was handled was decidedly bizarre.
“From the footage that we saw, it appeared that the two couples were indifferent to each other.
“This has never been explained and it was very strange, normally you read things and it may or may not be true but you don’t normally see them.”
Despite this prediction from Mr Fitzwilliams, other royal commentators have argued there are few signs the pair will repair their relationship.
Royal author Robert Lacey claimed Harry saw the four-generational photo of the Queen with Prince Charles, William and young Prince George as a reminder from his older brother about his place in the line of succession.
Writing in his new book Battle of Brothers, Mr Lacey said: “The new royal picture that the Queen did release on January 3 to mark the new decade showed Queen Elizabeth II herself, the future King Charles III, the future King William V and King George VII in the shape of little Prince George, just coming up to seven years old.

“What a fascinating and historic image to remind us of the essence of the royal system
“The current monarch with three future monarchs.
“All the living heirs and not a suggestion of a ‘spare’
“Palace sources have also let it be known that the plan of depicting the direct line of royal succession was enthusiastically supported by Prince William, which might be seen as sending his younger brother a message.
“The message was received and it was taken to heart.”
